Tom,
yoga + purpose (meaning making) is as close to the fountain of youth as we’ve found. I was once watching an interview with Huston Smith who is Thomas J. Watson Professor of Religion and Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Philosophy, Emeritus, at Syracuse University. Smith described his daily yoga ritual of getting up (4-5 AM) each morning.
In the interview he had on a boldly printed vest, a crop of brilliant white hair and neatly sculpted beard, his posture was upright; his thoughts were deep, complex, and clearly presented. He gave off an air of youthfulness (not anti-aging).
So, yoga (physical and mental ritual) and a magnificent obsession (in his case the world’s religions) can be the road to longevity and contribution.
